some people just want to act like they're holier than thou. also, my conspiracy theory is that a force out there that is pushing for conservatism haha i only say this because spaces like ours (like here on mgg) have been infiltrated lately by people who push for "purity"-like concepts in fiction. maybe it's just a swarm of younger people that have yet to know how to interact with spaces like these or they are just the type of people that want to police other people over fiction.

This won't apply to you since you're self aware about toxic relationships but I've seen a lot of people liking murderous characters knowing they're murderers and that it's wrong. But I've seen few people liking toxic relationships knowing it is toxic and that it's wrong. I think that's the difference. Could just be me tho, cuz everytime I argue with people about unhealthy relationships they always wanna tell me its nothing toxic and I'm the problem for trying to ruin a good relationship. But when it comes to killers, almost everyone is unanimous that that mf is a bad guy. Same logic applies, sure, but it's about recognition.

i read its cuz a lot of people can personally relate to the acts of abuse in those toxic ships u mentioned, since they've been through it themselves, and glorifying them is sort of disrespectful to the actual survivors, & well obv none of us have been murdered and those who have wont know whatevers going on, so its... okay? lmao idk
why do some people know that liking fictional murderers doesn’t mean you condone murder,
but the second you like a fictional toxic ship they crash out and accuse you of promoting unhealthy relationships
like the same logic still applies. it’s not any different for shipping
