Omegaverse?

Does anyone else feel like the “omegaverse” aspect of this plot was really nonexistent? They only have one time where they talk about pheromones and that’s during the one rut cycle scene. Other than that, they talk about how they’re alpha and omega one other time and that’s it. I even kept forgetting it was an aspect of the story bc it just wasn’t something that came up enough or had enough impact. Idk but I just think it’s unnecessary. I mean they barely talk about it. I think this could’ve easily been a non omegaverse bl and they wouldn’t even really have to change anything (just those two parts).

Is the author trying to get more views by having a trendy subgenre like omegaverse in the plot? Is it going to have a bigger importance later on in the story? I’m not sure.

But, no matter what I did enjoy reading it. It’s super cute and I liked the plot. I just think the Omegaverse subgenre is not needed, especially with how good it is on its own.

I kind of agree with you. Been reading a lot of omegaverse but this one does not give us much of that environment. On the contrary, I kind of like it that way. Most of the omegaeverse out there emphasizes the heat and rut of characters that it sometimes felt like the sex is out of need and not of love and affection. There are a lot of manhwas other there that overuses the way omegas respond to pheromones that potentially lead them to be violated at most times.

Yes I agree. It is nice to see one without the assault and social hierarchy. I just think it doesn’t make much sense in this story as they don’t talk about it much to be a plot point. There are other Omegaverse out there that don’t have assault or a social hierarchy and they are actually use Omegaverse in the development of the plot. Also what you said about “sex being often more of a need than because of love and affection”. I think this is really the whole point of Omegaverse. It gives a reason rut/heat or pheromones for the characters to be sexually involved even if they don’t like each other yet, which helps their romantic relationship develop, pushing the plot forward. Other BL plots that aren’t Omegaverse use other methods to help push the characters together into a romantic relationship. Another example would be childhood friends, having that connection already as friends makes them closer already, making it easier for them to become lovers. Second example would be enemies to lovers. Having that bickering between each other, brings them closer because they tend to pay attention to each other more. This creates a relationship of its own, although it might not be a good one it still creates a baseline relationship between the main characters.
