the novels is better. it really does feel like an horror story, the author did well to portray how tragic chengxiu's life is :(
the ending... they get together. after the stab (sq stabbed himself) he goes to the hospital and then cheng goes with him and he basically accepts that his life will never be his to control. and now, with the baby sq forced him to make (as he gave cheng's sperm without his authorization to "rent" a womb), cheng considers that he always wanted a family and that ties him to sq.
and, since he knows no matter where he escapes or goes to, sq will be there to catch him again and again. so he accepts sq in his life, but they don't get "together" per se. cheng gets his own place but works at sq's company, and sq practically is a loser who respects cheng now and is glued to him, but doesn't treat him badly. he lets cheng do whatever he wants.
cheng is obviously still unsure about the situation and barely reacts to sq. but with the baby coming, cheng "softens" and i basically interpreted this outcome with wives that stay because of their children. :( so, cheng basically accepts his fate and tries to be happy again, and he remembers how he loved sq and there's a lot of monologue from cheng that is so sad... but he does accept the whole thing, because what else can he do? here's a part of his monologue while thinking about it: "Since Li Chengxiu didn't have any other choice anyway, he was also willing to make his life a bit less difficult."
there's even this sentence in the novel that encapsulates cheng well: "He had hoped throughout all his life that he would one day gain a sense of belonging." so that's a reason of why a child would give him a "home" (something that cheng wished for).
but yeah, they got together because of the baby. sq "changed" and was ashamed by how he treated cheng, so he had a "redemption."
if you read the novel, keep in mind that it's worse but the author really does a good job by writing the whole thing. it doesn't "romanticize" it, and it truly felt like a horror story.

i know it was a bad idea to read this. i already saw clips of seme's bad behavior but i had no idea he was should've thrown into prison. SQ is a very rich person.. and met LCX who is a very poor person and has feminine trait. SQ liked LCX from first sight but he was one that made LCX's life hell bcs he couldn't accepted that he liked boy back then.
ok, then he came back again into LCX's life again bcs his obsession back then hadn't ended just like that. well, again he made LCX's life hell bcs he commited all the TWs i listed. LCX's had enough and broke the relationship and ran away.
LCX's ran and met this brother Li but ended up not happening bcs of SQ kept in the way. he couldn't moved on. too bad bcs brother Li is a very thoughtful guy and only guy whom treated LCX's with love and respect.
Skip to the 117, SQ got stabbed. I thought it was Ji's doing but no.. SQ fucking stabbed himself so he can get LCX's attention (MANIPULATIVE ASF)
- Ji Yuanqi retorted angrily: "I didn't injure him! He stabbed himself."
Li Chengxiu was stunned for a while.

HE IS A NURTURING AND FEMININE AND IN LOVE. he has nobody and poor but he is the strongest person i know.. after all he's done then SQ came and fucking controlled LCX's life like a frickin toy. i literally have lost count on how much LCX had to move out and change number just bcs of that psycho. SQ did not deserve LCX at all. but again, fuck the author.. can't just give happy ending after all the unfairness LCX's had to been through. it was fine if the genre were psychological.. but it was fucking romance. what the fck, are you trying to change ppl's point of view about love??? i am not type of yapping person but this is just too much man. i really want to know what kind of weed the author was smoking bcs this is really bad. stop milking money from toxic and violent relationship.
