I think those cops were bribed already by the kidnappers.

This is what I gathered and assumed.

This chapter basically just showed that the guy who kidnapped him was already in cahoots with the police. Showing that they were friends and visited the kidnapper occasionally. It was then he decided to learn about facial expressions and body movements so that he would never be duped again and can tell when a person is an enemy or ally and they true intentions. Because if he could tell he would've never trusted the officers in the 1st place. Durong The presentation he decided to make the other guy look bad so then the teacher wouldn't have high hopes for the next group. So when his friend went up there the teacher was surprised and extremely impressed and it appeared that their group presentation was the best out of everyone. He also gave advice to the man and his son because he was trying to be helpful towarfs the old man recovery and be normal and he was also hinting at for them to guy to the uncle restaurant by telling them foods that's good for nourishment and since his friend owns a restaurant we can guess that the food he suggested is what the uncle sells. Which means he was trying to be helpful in more ways than one. & lastly he sees a kid being bully. & he doesn't like it I think it triggers him from the abuse he experienced so he asked his 2nd personality if he wants to be helpful today as well. & the 2nd personality thrives off of violence and quickly agree and took over the body. The Mc seems to have a DID that he could've developed when he was kidnapped all those years as a defensive mechanism.
