My guess is that it's all a plan and the lawyer is in on it too. So they will just expose the other dude and in the end, the fl would be like 'wah? What happened?' and the ml would be like 'I knew what you were upto all along lol.' And then this traitor arc would end and some other one will start.

Hmm my prediction later when ml realised such important information get leaked he will suspect and blame fl first and even if there's subtle proof of his friend's backstabbing he'll still put all the blame on fl. Then after fl will just resign from that post and the crack between them gets bigger and bigger, till the truth comes to the light.
