That’s really unfair from your parents, no one should come to this world to repay, you don’t asked to be born yk, it’s your life and you should live it the way you want it, the least they can do is to pay for education, food and whatever, it’s their responsibility as parents, the audacity… but again, our culture are different :(

It can be like that for Hispanic households too, but in my opinion, it’s like if you only give me the basics and you’re not that good of a parent you’re only getting the basics back just FYI because you decided to have a kid that’s not my fault and if you give me the basics, I’m giving you the basics if you’re a really great, and good parent and give me support in every way you can. I’m gonna give you triple what you wanted Instead of like double. you know if you look at me as an investment, I’ll also look at you as an investor and your investment kind of sucked
As someone who lives and raised in asian household, translator explanation is so real. Yes, my parents see me as a "investment" which they gives me basic needs for a kid and make us do more for them as an adult.
I do think its normal at some point, to repay them double as they do to me even though they didn't give me enough attention and love as a grow up kid.
Btw, thank you for the update!
