I think he's the only one who saw how Ivory loves Dou. Remember in chap 1, he asked Dou if he will not change his mind. Maybe he tried to convince him that Ivory only did bad things for him but Dou did not believe him. He was amazed on how dedicated and passionate Ivory was to her brother just like in their current timeline. What's stopping him before is because Ivory is his step mother. Now he's very upfront about his feelings because the situation is different. He is no longer her step son.
