Stockholm syndrome originated from a 1973 bank robbery in Stockholm Sweden, where hostages defended their captors after release. The lady you're talking about is probably Kristin Enmark, as she claimed to be strategic under threat and not by emotional attachment.
Sometimes it depends on the situation and can't be determined by one perspective.
Another real-life example is Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped at the vulnerable age of 11 and held captive for 18 years.
She was isolated, manipulated, and threatened, relying on her captor for everything including food, clothing, and a sense of safety. She later described her feelings as numb and confused when she was rescued, her behaviour hinting at stockholm syndrome.
Although stockholm syndrome is a real psychological concept, it may be driven by survival instinct, trauma responses, or even emotional bonding.
In my opinion "stockholm syndrome" undermines the victim's trauma, as it's not as simple as we think it is

I don't mean to say noone gets attached to their abuser because of trauma
I'm trying to convey something similar to saying "Asperger's Syndrome isn't really a thing".
Like yes autism exists, however aspergers is such a narrow scope of autism, it doesn't actually describe autism in people like it says it does
Like thats what I'm trying to say, Stolkhom syndrome doesn't actually describe the experience it says it does, and people's understanding of it is so narrow that like it gets simplified to a point of uselessness imo
Eh I'm being a nerd, stockholm syndrome doesn't actually exist, basically a dude saw this lady act nicely towards her kidnapper and assumed anyone can get traumatised to the point of being friendly. Its not actually real, like if you look into the research its only case studies and all the reviews of the case studies go "theres not reliability or validity to this"
PLus like the lady who its based off as interviews of her being like "um I was trying to not to die with a gun pointed at my head, ofcourse I was being nice and focused on the person with a gun to my head"
