I understand the ML's pov like he knows the MC hates him and after killing the ML the he'd take his own life. I mean that's what he was set up to do from the beginning by that noble guy. The ML had multiple option to coax to MC after the betrayal scene like he could confess properly and ask him for forgiveness like Seungho did. I think the childhood trauma played a big part here. After countering the same situation with MC he's too blind in rage. The ML is thinking way too rationally of the situation that he didn't even consider the fact that the MC could have feelings for him as well. His main priority is keeping the MC alive even it meant he'd break him this way. This is total nonsense like our MC pointed out here. At this point even if the MC confesses (which is highly unlikely) I don't think the ML would be able to believe him. It's just too toxic for them being together at this point.
Either one of em or both of em dies. Or someone will get severaly injured which was already foreshadowed in the prologue.
They both feel sympathy for each other but their own grief is too big for them right now.

And whole situation is giving me a headache right now! I will come back a year later :)
