average reader canon event: hating the wolf and puppy's romantic dynamic (i still hate it). but since the author intended it to be an alternate reality, i treat it as such.
tho usually i just dont read those chapters at all to preserve the father-son image i have of them

yeah that's what i thought as well. but i read somewhere (i forgot if it was someone's comment or the translator's notes) that the author made their romantic dynamic a different universe.
feel free to drop the story if you're not uncomfortable with the author's decisions
