This is my theory. For all I know he still could have a hole back there. But what I gathered and processed his anal hole turned into his cloaca. It’s what birds (in this case chickens) have. It is used to get rid of waste and of course to reproduce. Chickens have two tracts/valve that are for single purposes. One is to get rid of waste while the other is to help slide eggs out. One valve closes while the other one is in motion so the eggs will not get contaminated by waste. Really nice thing to know :)!
