Uff. 'Parents' definitely get an A for parenting there- A for Absence that is !! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ Mum! Your kid removed themself from the house to live in the garden shed after new husband and 'son' move in --and you don't even question this??! Uncle! You really said you'd let that boy drift and burn if he doesn't find some 'passion' and pull himself up by his bootstraps -AnD you put that on the shoulders of your new teenage step daughter, TOO? gtfo stop parentifing her and get Kaya help, you utter walnut! Like that boy is in dire need of therapy, bish! Haruno has never learned to set boundaries and also doesn't trust anyone with her troubles or rely on her Mum - the adult! ... as do the other teens. I read that in japan kids get introduced early on to be self sufficient - which isn't inherently bad at all, but together with the other social norms (like excessively not wanting to trouble others) it's just a horrific bad mix for a young person.... I really adore Nasu. I loved that Ran grew as a person. I really hope the other shoe will drop - like Kaya realizing he's essentially sucking all happiness out of Ran because of their 'promise' since they don't live in a vaccum, and he in turn grows as a person and starts healing somewhat.
Otherwise this shoujo will fall into the horror yandere genre for me. There is nothing fluffy and good about her ending up with Kaya. Just trauma, trauma bonding, pain, and self-abandonment. Damn. ╥﹏╥
