You've obviously been reading some other manga and this comment must be a crosspost, because saying "just be nice to him" would only get her to the grave.
The emperor is a crazy psycho, standard common behaviour like niceties and pleasantries BORE HIM terribly. She needs to keep being entertaining and thinking out of the box in order to survive, and being nice to him it's definitely not entertaining enough.
