Why does it feel like every story with gates has to have a MC with a sick relative? Can’t the family members ever be healthy, happy, and maybe even not helpless? Is it a lot to ask for?

    At least they werent fridged? Hiding a Logistics Center in The Apocalypse has family that are healthy, happy, and useful if not outright powerful. I really love them. Even the inlaws for the eldest brother are great. Also noone got fridged........yet
