No it wasn’t confusing and very satisfying to me.
She chose someone who got their future ripped away and gave them another chance to become someone entirely on their own with no memories of the past, just as she explained to Emi. There wasn’t an original soul for her son that she took away from her son to replace it with the og star maiden. You misunderstood that. She found the soul of the star maiden and chose that soul to basically reincarnate the star maiden, it’s just that it wasn’t a girl this time but a boy. It’s the exact offer she gave to Emi, so that she could give her a new life and be connected to her for as long as possible.
No. OG Pina’s soul became Remi’s son in the same way Emi did. Essentially, Remi met with their souls and turned them into her children—she gave birth to them. She explains it best with this line: “If I give birth to you from the start, there will be no need for you to take over someone else’s body.”
I think there’s been some confusion. There is an “original” Star Maiden, and she was coexisting with the “villain” Pina that we know of. It's similar to how Remi was living inside her own body while Emi was the one controlling it. The line, “Her body was taken over just before entering the academy. The situation was so unbearable that she left her own body…,” actually refers to the OG Pina. The “situation” being that the villain Pina was doing horrendous things (like sleeping around with other people the butt way), which drove OG Pina to abandon her body.
So, to sum it up: no soul was taken over in the case of Remi and Angel’s first child. That child was simply OG Pina’s soul, retrieved by Remi and reborn as Remi’s son.

Is anyone else confused by the fact her son’s soul is supposedly gone and now is taken over by a different star maiden? That’s kind of fucked up. I would be absolutely crushed if my child was my child anymore before the child could even grow up and become who they wanted to be. This conclusion is really unsatisfying and confusing as hell.
