Plot wise not similar at all and u would recommend dearest if you want kind of the same plot. However, the dynamics in flashlight matches the dynamics of shutline purely because of their backgrounds and the chase of their relationship. You will go through almost the same hardships you went through this one only different occupations. I think that shin and Yujin are the same and they would definitely get along well if they were in the same universe lol. I did also struggle with trying to get into shutline and it took me years to realize what I was missing out on. I believe in you and I promise you it will get better as you get into the story more! But out of all the stories with similar dynamics, I get secondhand embarrassment with the MC here the most. I know this is such a slow burn, but would you say that there is no hint of genuine romance or intimacy between the MC and ML at all in the first 20-30 chapters?
Yes I do agree there isn’t a hint of actual romance between flashlights mc and ml but there is a sort of attraction. Like you know they’re made for each other and they be great if they get it together. There is definitely some times where I feel like I wanna strangle this MC so bad but that’s also apart of the experience in my opinion. However, with shutline the MC and the ML have this weird attraction to each other where at first you would think that the ML is just another red flag but really they both have this sort of strange raw connection to each other that strengthens their relationship if that makes sense. It’s also reminds me of the couple in under the greenlight because they strongly embody like a mafia fuckboy and an average joe who’s also freaky. Kinda rambling a bit but I hope I answered your question correctly lol
