As a child, he was beaten and scolded and neglected by his father for playing around. He desperately changes and tries to appease his father, but he'll find fault in everything he did. He was taught to be ashamed for acting like himself.
But Jinhyeong is still a good kid, and realizes that not all poor children are bad people. That's why he became friends with Song Rik. Song Rik is his escape from his shitty home life, who has a home he can stay in temporary. Song Rik also has a more vengeful personality. It could have come from the abandonment from his mom, which he viewed it as a betrayal from his most precious person. That's why he suggested the same thing to Jinhyeong. Make his horrible father love him again, then kick him to the trash can and run away from their horrible past forever.
Remember, Song Rik hates his dad and doesn't give a shit about him. Jinhyeong hates his dad and has spent his whole life trying to please him. That's the biggest difference between these two. Jinhyeong gets sucked back into the cycle of lovebombing and abuse from his father, which Song Rik doesnt understand. He's still a teenager after all. I'm pretty sure if Song Rik meets his mom again, he might fall into the same cycle of love and hate too. But he's not, so he directs all the anger towards Jinhyeong.
Chapter is not out yet, but I'm pretty sure Song Rik will claim that he was using Jinhyeong all along, and that Jinhyeong was also just taking advantage of him. They never cared for each other, and Jinhyeong is just an asshole who looked down on him because he was poor all the time. Song Rik will break off their friendship and might even quit school. Their fight will never be resolved, because that impact will last until his college days and into his relationship with his ex.
In college, Jinhyeong's anxiety and paranoia has increased dramatically. He's still staying with his parents. His father is still criticizing and controlling. His one and only friend had abandoned him. He has no friends from his past and he has to hide his true self. He's also stressed from school work. He gets together with Noona, but every nice act she does feels fake to him. He also feels like he's acting fake, because he can't reveal his crazy self to her. He keeps it all inside until one day, JINHYEONG is the one who explodes on his partner and breaks off the relationship.
Jinhyeong finishes college and moves on to undergrad. He's still living with his parents, but he still wants to leave. To escape, he needs money. That's why he becomes a TA and takes on a lot of side work from his professors. His social life? Zero. It's him against the whole world.
Song Uyun wiggles into his life, confesses his crush and most importantly, HAS HIS OWN APPARTMENT. Jinhyeong moves in immediately to escape from his family home, and we already know Jinhyeong's entire thought process with Song Uyun so I'm not going to make this comment any longer LOL
The author is so good at story telling that I feel like everything I've written has been shown in the story so I'm not providing a lot of extra interpretation HAHA
Whether my prediction of Song Rik and Jinhyeong's come true or not, I'm gonna cry so hard for them.
(ok my prediction is wrong because I wrote this before the new chapter came out. I only took a quick glance at the comments but it's OK IM STILL GONNA CRY A LOT)
