That was only our guess
He was not, and if you see when he was young he was staring at the tower saying something is calling him, so he was being messed up in the head since he was young. But either way in the novel he is actually dead.
Im guessing it was in the original novel, but it was weird to mention Jenette's mom as well as show her portrait but then never really do much with it. Also Fathers brother was still shitty before he got possessed (the affair, bullying, etc,), i guess they're saying he was haunted by the spirit for a while but still
