thought this was just a BL man, now why am I crying
Okay, but on a serious note, while I think it was an adorable and heartfelt friendship, the experiences of the two teens were just too different for them to fully come to a mutual stage. Tragedy was something the two could’ve somewhat related to on a level ground, but their tragedy were two vastly different experiences that ultimately couldn’t repair the relationship between the two. While it was a common topic they could’ve related with each other, the real problem began when one of them began measuring the depth of their tragedies. Comparison is the thief of joy, and when it begins, it embeds inside of your mind and can’t be expelled like kicking a ball away.
Idk, it’s just sad that the people, the environment that surrounded them were too judgemental and narrow-minded and encouraged division between poor and rich, dumb and ugly, and unfortunately, it is never the fault of the children of how twisted they become. Children are just like sponges, and arguably, teenagers more so in the phase of development, and they tend to pick up whatever they see and hear. The fault never lied between JH and SR. They were just two unfortunate byproducts of their twisted environments.
It’s a poignant and realistic portrayal of what goes on in real life. How adults are so antagonistic and over critical of each other because of the materialistic things like capital and status, and how by extension, kids can be exceptionally and unknowingly cruel to each other. I’m sure JH and SR genuinely cared for each other but their relationship was too just too heavy for the amount of insecurities and immaturities they had and as kids would do in the process of learning, they hurt and fight and kick each other down because to them, it seemed like the easiest things to do in the heat of the moment. Now I’m just shedding a tear cuz I relate to JH so much
