The tension has been brewing for so many chapters like from him being obsessive over Tay without knowing why, to him jokingly saying he liked Tay by the window cause his feeling was bubbling over, to him trying to apologize to Tay after realizing that what he was feeling was love (which in turn led Tay to notice as well), to him sneakily wanting to hear Tay say the words because he is needy now. Sister the passion is justified
I think the part when Taeui cleared up the misunderstanding of Ilay's misinterpretation of what Taeui said played the part.
Ilay thought Taeui hated him the whole time and Ilay really really wanted that cookie. He probably felt like he's losing control of himself that's why he's been trying to "dominate and control" Taeui as his way of projecting this sense uncertainty that he felt.
And now that the misunderstanding is finally
cleared that Taeui doesn't hate him, I think that gave Ilay a sense of reassurance and it became one of the reasons why Ilay is fully expressing his yearning rn, albeit unconsciously since it seems Ilay is not that quite aware of it yet.
Ofc the part where Taeui chose him instead of the chinese guy also played a role to this.
