haha youre not alone and tbh when I read the novels Ilay became my fave character I also dont like comparing him with either Caesar or Zhenya, I think they’re all different. Though among those three, personally, I like Ilay the most
I think it’s because Ilay is less about hurting Taeui physically or emotionally nowadays. He’s sort of gotten softer now that he has Taeui with him whereas Caesar and Zhenya sort of intensified the obsession to tenfold when they’re already in relationships with Lee won and Taekjoo. (Tbf Zhenya also chills out but I find his actions way more heinous than Ilays)
