He is blinded by a term "Proving oneself" basically with rumors and talks around him he has that mindset to prove he isnt just "that" I find him stupid but also hate everyone around him.
Everyone around him being assholes is completely irrelevant to him being really stupid and bad at being a soldier, lol
A good soldier follows orders. He keeps thinking to himself that he's going to make this big difference in the war and that he's going to prove himself. In wartime if you don't follow orders you are usually put to death as a traitor. Deserters are also put to death.
I do not believe that this idiot is a top students in the military academy lol
