Just because they forgive each other doesn't mean they HAVE to get back into a relationship with one another, they can still be content as strangers. It almost feels like people think becoming strangers = not being forgiven vs becoming romantically invloved again = being forgiven, I think the authors that write theses stories baby the men way too much with the mindset of "boys will be boys" as all the men do is loathe in self pity, it's very silly and I wish more stories would make them move on with their lives and separate to find their individual happiness. Pushing them back together feels too forced for me personally.
