Idk, stories like these where the main bad guys are bad because of some external force messing with their heads kind of turn me off on the story. Cause I don’t get any satisfaction from the revenge/face slapping scenes. I just lowkey feel bad for them, cause their minds are being controlled and stuff

Nah don't feel bad (esp OGML) because, other characters like ML's parents, OGFL, FL's father managed to snap out of that force's control and do some self introspection. Some of them also try to make it up to those they've been bad to.

Meanwhile, the OGML is acting like a program gone rogue. He is definitely aware and believes the world revolves around him. Notice how he keeps mentioning "everything will go back to the way it was". He knows. He also has the choice but chooses not to and refuses to adjust to the newly changed novel script.

Idk, I feel like they were able to snap out of it easier because they aren’t as important in the story. Like, it took a long while and a big shock to happen to the original fl that made her finally realize something was wrong. Just every time a character has a moment where they’re like “wait… why am I doing this” but then suddenly the brainwashing happens just makes me feel bad for them and I can’t bring myself to feel happy when the mc does something to get revenge on them.

I get that but in Persen's case, even when he snaps out of it, he still continues to do vile and violent things. He doesn't care that what he's doing is wrong. He feels like he was "abandoned" by Luna and wants revenge, even though all she did was choose to protect herself. He's too obsessive and messed up to be saved now.
