here's the most important part in what I've read up til: sally went to the palace to visit her majesty when she came across the empress dowager who made inappropriate comments about the empress. rightfully offended on her majesty's behalf, sally spoke up in her defense. outraged, the shitty old hag called for her whip to "punish" sally. the empress, who had left her palace for the first time in 10 years, stopped her. she then told the story of how her royal hagness caused her miscarriage, which of course no one knew bc she ordered the royal physician to keep the pregnancy a secret until she was at a more stable point. the empress was taking a walk in the royal garden when she came across her royal hagness whipping a little theodora underneath her skirt (seriously whatzit w high class bitches and their whips. clearly royal and noble education doesn't include emotional regulation. how bout therapy?!?!?). the empress came and took the whipping in theodora's place causing the miscarriage of the future prince or princess. this was why she had sealed the empress palace, which in turn allowed the queen to plot her slow assassination (which no one knows yet). the (finally not useless) emperor came in during the story, saw the royal hag held no remorse and revoked the empress' position and restored that authority back unto the empress. that's what I've read up til now which is 112. stoll catching up to the raws which I think is currently in the 30s.
