Can we leave zoomer speak out of manga, please?

I already hate the term "gooner" to begin with. I don't need to see it here, too. Ripped me straight out of reading.

i agree, atleast here it was just at one part with some school boys where it kinda makes sense but it annoys me still and defently should not be a trend.

the characters in questions ARE zoomers... the original text for the bubble that says "then this one's for gooning?" uses a japanese slang term. what's the difference?

"Gooner" now has a massive negative stigma around it. There's only rare instances where people don't use it as an insult or without malicious intent.

You can't so much as appreciate a character's design or outfit without someone either calling you porn addicted or a gooner these days. It's not the same as when we used to use the term "fap" in place of masturbation. I'd just rather them use a different term than one I am forced to see any time I open socmed to insult people trying to have fun on the internet.

It wouldn't be so bad if most of these English terms didn't carry so much negative connotation now.

Like, 90% of the time I see the terms "goon" or "gooner" it's used in a derogatory way to insult someone who so much as glances at an anime tiddy. 7% of the time it's used to refer to henchmen and the remaining 3% is used in a joking, lighthearted way like "fap" used to be.

I get why there is localization and all, I just wish they didn't feel the need to find workarounds that used lingo only the terminally online or 18 yos would find funny.

    Mhmm.

I'm also tired of the dog ass excuse of "well, the jp is using slang/puns that are hard to translate into English" as if I wasn't deep in the fansub mines 20 years ago reading fan translator notes explaining the context of a joke that only makes sense in Japanese lol real ones remember aarinfantasy subs.

We used to be able to just *learn* why the jokes are funny due to the language and cultural context. Now they just replace it with some dumb ass lingo that mostly English speakers use and aren't funny at all.
