using another kid to make an environment so that boy can learn empathy makes sense ig, but damn so tiring, the same damn trope everytime, oh a man doesn't understand empathy? get a woman in there so he can finally learn to not be an asshole, like yes in this story it's just lil kids ig, but it is repetitive asf to read smth that you'll see everywhere in the real world, (which is an issue btw cus why is the burden of teaching men stuff they should've already cultivate put on the women around him)

why can't this just be solved with teaching him empathy to the class below him by making him learn more about them, not through a "romantic" lense (yes, ikik they're just kids) but it is implied he will change bc he wants to "make a good impression" cus "he's a flirt" and personally i think that's so? in a sense just reducing what he has shown to be extreme apathy and even cruelty to the class below him as smth light. it really isn't, before this the way he behaves makes it obv he doesn't even see them as humans

Agreed. And why take the risk of introducing an innocent and naive girl to someone, who lacks empathy and is capable of cruelty and violence? I can also see him grow up to be one of those scumbags in broken engagement stories. He seems like the type who would feel threatened by strong women and use “weak women” to boost his ego.

omg thank you for saying this! I felt kinda iffy abt the whole thing while reading it but couldn't put it into words! Agree 100%!!! Feel like fl should've known better than to do something like this considering her bg as an educator. Sure, it worked out but imagine if it didn't, yk? What if he, instead of falling for that girl, started bullying her instead? And why do we have to learn basic empathy only through a romance lens? Like geez, I thought every poor person was disgusting but hey, there's this cute girl I like and she's not disgusting so ig poor people aren't disgusting! Idk idk why we gotta drag an innocent girl in all this
