wait am I stupid when did it mention her first lover??? i just assumed it was like cuz of her dad leaving her n all
I checked back on his first mention in chapter 2 because I thought I might have hallucinated it, but no. There was apparently a "rake of a man" who left her 12 years ago. That couldn't have been her father, because that description would have been weird, and we find out later her father left her much earlier than that. There was I think at least one other mention of this lover later, along with a panel showing him kissing Laura, but his face was in shadows so we still don't know what he looks like.

This really is Pride & Prejudice 2005 movie coded, down to the hand flex and how Laura's hair looked braided to one side after receiving Mr. Darcy's—I mean Mr. Dalton's letter. Needless to say, I love it. (And from the looks of things, we might get some Persuasion elements thrown in when Laura's first lover makes a reappearance. Can't wait!)
