making that choice is never easy. i’ve worked with various animals throughout my life, so i knew what was to come when the vet told me my dogs kidneys were failing. while i knew about the inevitable, i can’t imagine having hope only for it to all crash down like she did. having so much experience with animals has saved me from being crushed after having hope.

Last year there was a community cat we fed and he was such a sweetheart. Anyway, one night my cousin went out and saw the cat sitting there in loaf form and I guess he tried getting up and he couldn’t so she called out to us. When we went to him I saw he was injured. We think he was hit by a car and made his way to us. Not once did this kitty make a sound as we drove to the vet. The first vet denied treatment because he wasn’t *my* cat, so I found another place and lied that he was mine. Long story short, the injuries were too extensive and treatment would have been insanely expensive so it was decided it was best to let him go. I cried so much, but he knew he was loved till the end. I know he knew we would help and that’s why he tried so hard to make it back to us. I have his ashes, it’s the least I could do for him.
