Yeah… we’re at chapter 118 and we’ve done so many side quests to the point there’s been little progress with the main plot. Which is a waste cause the main plot isn’t shallow or boring, it’s about stopping a WHOLE WAR.

I mean, y'all can just stop reading. Unselect the "follow" option and just come back in a couple years when it's finished.

This is the way SpyxFamily has been since the beginning, it's not like it's new. And it's not gonna stop being exactly what it advertised itself to be any time soon, because the plot isn't about STOPPING a war, it's about PREVENTING a war. Which is inglorious and unsexy, and a long, arduous uphill climb.
Even then, the story isn't about preventing a war. The story is about how war affects people, all people. its about how the devastation of war is not separated into good and bad, how propaganda is used to incite the righteous to hatred, how as you seek to defeat you enemies you become the monster.
None of that would work if we didn't spend ample time on the lives, feelings, and motivations of the characters who cross the paths of our heroes; really humanizing even the shitheads whose whole job is to torture people (the SSS) into people who are just doing what they think is right in order to protect the things they care about

There's nothing wrong with not liking these kinds of slower manga, especially in today's manga climate where every story is rushing to a finish line that the fans are gonna be unsatisfied with anyway (jjk anyone?), but there isn't anything wrong with it.
It's not stale, and it is progressing, these chapters are important to what SpyxFamily stands for

Damn, I didn’t know what I wrote would be taken so seriously or I’d write it more carefully. An example is I should’ve written stopping a whole war from starting. (Which would’ve meant the same as preventing, cause that’s what I meant when I originally wrote this but again I didn’t give it much thought to properly word it.)

I don’t think the main commenter or I indicated that we disliked the manga nor did we show (or atleast I didn’t) that I didn’t understand the purpose of why we’re going through different character perspectives. I understand that it helps to improve world building but the pacing is just slow. Some may enjoy it (you) and some may not enjoy the pacing (the main commenter).

You can dislike a story’s pacing while liking the story. You can like a story’s world building while wishing the plot went a bit quicker. There are ways to say this definitely, more nicely than calling it “stale” or “side quests” but this is a m@ngo comment section, most people are just here for a quick read then leave (which I did).

Also, /gen, you said to unfollow the stories. Why do you follow stories instead of putting them in want to read, reading or already read. Isn’t that harder to manage?

Sorry man, I probably wasn't as chill as I could have been with my comment. I guess I'm just getting really frustrated because every time a new chapter of SpyxFamily comes out the comments are flooded with people complaining about the pacing or the "side quests" and it's been going on for months. Especially when the "side quests" give us a view into the lives of the characters. I guess it's just really getting to me

I do put manga into my want to read, reading, or read. It's on that pop-up where you can choose the "follow" option so you get notifications about it updating. But at the bottom there is the option "visible only to me" which I have select for everything because I don't like the idea of people being able to sift through what read lol
