That the dad/count never actually cheated with the blonde’s mother. The mother literally is crazy and projects feelings of love onto his actions of hiring her in a desperate time (also making cath believe that he is also her father). So in turn, she prob poisoned the wife in an attempt to replace her when she’s dead. That didn’t work so now she pressures the daughter to take revenge in her own way (which is to steal the men the FL loves - why she says “my heart belongs to the one FL loves” or whatever). Anyways
TLDR - mom crazy delusional and killed FL mother, daughter also despicable serial bf stealer for revenge, FL dad never was involved with the crazy lady and just genuinely wanted to give them a helping hand but lady took it the wrong way
