Maybe cuz I'm an avid reader of BL so I can say that this is not the most case at all... I've seen some varieties and I can say this mostly happens when the relationship is toxic (or the environment is toxic) or the main couple are not yet a couple who don't have any emotional attachments yet.
I always wondered what's going on with authors who do plot likes this. Making the uke always see the seme having sex first is like in most bl manhwas now;-; and gonna make the uke a VIRGIN mary sht then suddenly gonna make the childhood and seme has been liking on him since or whatever shr, and SEME WILL BE SO POSSESSIVE AND BE ANGRY AT ANY HUMAN BEING that touches uke;-; And he's like "He's mine"
