I haven’t read the novel so I might be wrong. He is Satan because he is the prophesied demon coming to Earth. And the demon worshippers named him Satan. He is the king of Hell and he concurred other demon kings of Hell. Let me reread the earlier chapters but that’s my perspective on this.
