Most likely not but heres how it works for me.
I read everything online first (illegally) if i end up liking or loving something i will buy a physical copy if it exists or at least go to the official site to buy a chapter or few.
I like to go over the things so I'm not just wasting my money on something that can turn out to be garbage. Idk how some authors don't understand that most illegal site readers do go out of their way to support if they like the work, or will try to support in different ways if they can't use money.

Thats true. I only thought the possibility of it because of that Twitter post, where a game programmer found out that their work is being pirated, and instead of getting mad, they even admitted themselves that they’ve also used pirated stuff before, probably because of financial limitations. They even suggested ways to support them for free.
Putting aside the fact they could have earn more money if all were to read on legal site. Sometimes i wonder if authors checks their works on illegal site, do they feel happy if the comments are good or being praised?
