Honestly the second lead is coercive and manipulative, has already taken advantage of mc with the "I'll help you cause I'm your destined partner" even when mc clearly not only doesn't like him but also has someone else that he indeed likes, but still coerced mc to go along using the attraction caused by pheromones to "help". Second lead gives me a huge ick, hate him. ML is obsessive, but the second is even worse, he's a fake green flag, a watermelon, fake green outside but pure red on the inside.
Is there anything more romantic than two people in love that go against all odds to be together, even destiny like this case? I love that mc chooses the one he loves and not the guy he's actually supposed to be with. You cannot force feelings, even things like fate fail sometimes, and a love so strong that beats fate is something unique, barely seen on BL and I'm a sucker for it. As much as I love destined partners, I also love those couples that don't choose their destined partner and go for the one they actually love instead
