I can actually see he's in love with River but bruh let's be for real, you can never wholy love a person if you can't let go of your past. The love he still have for Summer won't make him love River the same way. His litanies sometimes gives ick coz it feels like he just love River coz she was there for them not because he love him for who she is. If I was him, I can always love Summer and keep her in my mind but not to the point that it will hinder what's in the present. Loving someone new doesn't always mean you forget the past
