Well as far as I know, the father won't die. Good news right ^_^
Bad news is: yes the red dragon dies ( -◞ω◟- ) and then El goes back in past (remember the yellow haired El) to collect the pieces of soul of the red dragon that gets shattered due to his unnatural death.
That's all I know so far.
