Surgery probably. The manga said they just keep like the spine and brain so they probably open you up, add a couple parts to fit that safely to the machine then attach it to the rest of the body.
At least, thats what I imagine. There's probably a lot going into like keeping everything alive, like with organ transplants. Kinda makes me wonder if it'd need to be a bit of a slower process to prevent shock/rejection. I know the manga said they had programming and such as well but I'm a little more unsure of how that would work in general tbh, since the brain is maintained n all
