i agree... it feels like a lot of publishing corporations nowadays prioritize tagging tropes rather than genres.
While I understand wanting to avoid spoiling the story, I think there should be more warning tags other than just "intense." It is too vague. While the description made it clear the story wouldn't be all sunshine and rainbows, feel they could have done better at giving the audience an idea of what to suspect.
