It's hard to create a real villianess that the reader can sympathise with. We've all been trained to dislike those who hurt and belittle others. Even the one where the demon takes over the country only works because the prince and his choice were worse than the main character.
Seems like they've abandoned the "redeemed villainess" trope and replaced it with "misunderstood heroine". These last few batches of uploads are different from how it started
