Inès remembers her brother killing Emiliano, but the way he's talking, I think he killed himself—just like her—and that's why he remembers, or that's why he thinks he remembers.
I understand it as: he believes Carvel can remember things in dreams because he's the only one who didn't commit suicide.
I think he killed himself because he said "I volunteer to die without reward".

Oh wow, so Emiliano remembers too. Like how Ines does, or how the CP does. Except he says, Carcel is loved by God because he can only remember it in glimpses/dreams.
Perhaps emiliano thinks the reason for him remembering everything right from the start is because he made the decision to elope with ines
