He was relatively close by when she was married to the prince and witnessed her suffering firsthand, but it’s likely that the truth of Inez’s second death was kept a secret. It may have gotten out that she was married to a commoner, but the exact details were likely hidden. If he knew what actually happened, he would probably be far less suspicious of Inez’s intentions
