I'm pretty sure MC was betrayed by the sargeant (they threatened the life of that baby in the picture) and ML set it all to meet MC again.

This guy is really unlucky...you just had to meet someone undercover who knew your real identity, darn it. But again it can totally happen but dam it you have such damn bad luck
