tbh I think it was important to show that MC is a piece of shit, he has stated that he doesn't care about his partners usually and is quite hedonistic. Just the fact he held back, to me, displays that he values ML more than any of his other partners despite his innate shittiness.
I wish we got a vision of Sunhwa having a shitty birthday instead of Nanjo being violated here
