Where did you read the novel?
There is a reason that their son Ashley became so paranoid with his children, that he feared one would be like his father.^^
But if you read the novel in the release order, you were at least a bit prepared.
I read the novel about chases grandparents and holy shit is it super fucked up. I was expecting dogblood and something similar to this but it was in a whole different league of fucked up.
