look don't get me wrong I like that Edith is kind and generous and whatnot but holy crap does she not know the concept of fuck around find out??

I also get that she has low esteem issues but why is she so quick to blame herself for??? villains getting their just desserts?? Like with Leila Sinclair, the girl tried to frame her with an affair and long story short she failed and got detained. Then Edith was like "oh she got detained? isn't that too harsh? this never happened in the original blah blah blah blah therefore it must be my fault for messing with the novel that she got detained :(" like huh??????? mind u this happened at a diplomatic ball that has reps from all their allied countries and the Sinclair girl decided to try something just cause she's horny, of course she'll get detained!?!? This isn't the only example, this one is just the most egregious one I could think of that would get my point across.

Im so upset that im just gonna choose to see it this way. Edith is so kind and emphatic that she can't comprehend the simple fact that some people could be assholes without an external force forcing them to do so. It's borderline moronic but whatever she's sweet and kind and a heaven sent so idc idc idc.

I believe the main issue is that Edith struggles to accept that her choices have significantly impacted the lives of the characters within the story. While I understand her perspective, I also think that, given her high position, she should begin to learn not to show pity toward those who have actively harmed her. Something that might have shifted her outlook would be discovering that Lady Sinclair was involved in the attempted murder against her. Edith carries herself with strength and dignity, and she handles her role admirably, but at times, she may be a bit too forgiving and kind when it comes to dealing with the consequences others should face.
