i just want to propose that we share outlets for official merch without directly linking. direct link click throughs give tracking data that'll put sites like mgg more on the spot, and possibly lead to shutdown or the artists giving up. but things like linktree or manually typing sites won't show mgg & others.
basically, if we make it common place to say "support the artist/author at OfficialMerch dot corn" that might be a good way to support creators. maybe some people can't buy 200 chapters, but can afford a $10 official trinket, idk

btw if that sounds insane, yes, website owners can see if people are being directed through things like social media, search engine, etc, even your location! so they just have to check some stats on their admin dashboard and they'd see 200 referral clicks through mgg & that would be upsetting, even if everyone bought things every time!
It’s wild how some people really think reading something illegally for years somehow makes them part of an author’s fan club. Y’all will pirate a series from chapter one, never support it even once not a single purchase, not even a retweet of the official content, but then sit on the author's page every day like you’re besties.
And now someone actually posted a full illegal translation on Twitter like it was cute. Of course the author saw it. Of course she went off. She has every right to be angry, her work, her income, her livelihood is being stolen right in front of her by people claiming to “love” her. Love without respect is nothing.
Let’s be real: piracy isn’t going anywhere. We all know that. But the least you could do is not flaunt it in the author’s face, then pretend you’re some loyal fan. That’s not love. That’s entitlement dressed up as admiration. If you can’t support officially, at least don’t be dumb enough to harass or provoke the creators. Sit quietly in the corner you chose and stop acting like they owe you kindness.
