I was thinking this but then also remembered that the drugs made him hallucinate and anxious so his sober mind helped him think more rationally and connect the dots. He even remembered what was being said the night he got kidnapped (words of reassurance) as opposed to just seeing blondie smile and adding to the eeriness of the situation.
