Her friends are too, I fear. A Korean BL author who recently defended her basically said that Korean illegal readers are more lowkey compared to international ones. And while they do acknowledge that piracy exists both domestically and abroad, the way it’s worded still feels like it puts international readers in a worse light—generalizing them as louder, more careless, and more likely to flaunt their piracy, while placing Korean illegal readers on a pedestal for being more discreet.

“There is also a misconception that many users of overseas illegal sites have. They always think that Korean writers are racist because they only point out users of overseas illegal sites and do not consider Korean illegal sites.
It’s your mistake. The reason why Korean writers mention users of overseas illegal sites a little more is not because they are racist, but because they always contact the writers directly or upload images from illegal sites while proudly stating the name of the work.
As you may think, Korea is also full of illegal sites and has many users of illegal sites. However, they tend not to directly reveal themselves in spaces where writers can see them. That is why they are not directly visible, so there are few cases where they are mentioned personally.”

They say she's xenophobic cos Euja quoted the guy who upload the illegal fan translated chapter asking him where he read it cos the official translation is not released yet, and this guy is non-Korean. They're mad she doesn't "call out" Korean illegal readers, but Korean illegal readers don't need to read fan translations, so how is Euja suppose to tell the difference between legal and illegal Korean reader? Non-Koreans get caught because they post non-official translations and make it so obvious, thats not xenophobic lol

well this is indeed the consequence of posting unofficial chapters in social media.. plus they hav a big following so they gotta be held accountable bruh.. and like you said, euja isnt xenophobic and doesnt seem xenophobic from their tweets of just getting pissed off of illegal readers which i totally understand bc they blatantly posted that shi on a public acc. wish more people know abt illegal reading etiquette man
the twitter situation is insane euja is a xenophobic twat like where is that energy with your korean illegal readers??
