I personally love Cesar. He shows you exactly who he is from the first time he shows up. A high society noble who basically stands at the top of the food chain and acts like it. That means he isn’t nice just to be nice, he’s aware of his own importance and therefore believes he’s above everyone else, doesn’t take kindly to having his time wasted and is domineering. As long as you can accept that these are his character traits and don’t suddenly expect him to be nice and aware of feelings he’s never had before, you’ll enjoy the story. The FL herself understands this about his character which is why unlike a lot of the readers, she doesn’t actually hate him. I wanted a jerk ML because I was tired of the puppy MLs, Prince Charming MLs and silent MLs, so I got my wish with Cesar. I’m happy.

Also why people might think he’s a green flag is because he genuinely loves her for her, regardless of her status and will do everything to be with her after the knight lies to her about how Cesar only slept with her for fun and was done with her. The knight only managed to do that because Cesar stepped away after their first night together, to get a ring and propose. I haven’t read the novel but someone gave a super detailed spoiler on another website so that’s what I know

Just because Cesar "genuinely loves" the FL doesn't erase the fact that he's abusive. Love isn't just about grand gestures like proposing, it's about how you treat someone daily. If he's domineering, dismissive of her feelings, and acts like he's "above" her, that's not a green flag, that’s emotional abuse wrapped in privilege. The FL not hating him doesn’t mean he's good for her, it could mean she's been worn down or has no other options. Stockholm syndrome isn't romance.

And let's be real, a man who treats people like dirt but makes exceptions for the one he "loves" isn't a green flag, he’s a red flag in disguise. Abuse isn't excused by backstory or he really cares deep down. If readers are calling him a green flag just because he's obsessed with her (or just cuz he's hot) or he's finally doing something "good" for her he's still not a green flag.

As for the argument that he's a high society noble who acts like it, If the narrative frames his behavior as acceptable just because of his status, that's not staying true to his character, it's glorifying toxic elitism. Real growth would be him recognizing his privilege and learning basic decency, not doubling down on arrogance because that's just who he is

But good for you tho, you found your shtty ml (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Oh I’m not trying to debate this. You asked a question, I answered why it might be the case; I don’t actually know whether that’s the case or not since I personally don’t categorize people or characters in “flags”. I’m only interested in the shades of grey they all have. The length of the paragraphs you wrote tells me you probably had a whole rant on Cesar being bad or “toxic” (another word I don’t use), but I don’t really need to delve into all that since I don’t see the point in defending him to people; he’s been nothing but his authentic self from the start.

Also my bad for the first paragraph, I thought you were someone who wanted to hear about the character without having read the story so I gave a straightforward overview of who Cesar is so the new reader jumps in knowing what they’re in it for.

No no it's okay! I understood it, and it's not my cup of tea so I'm dropping this ╥﹏╥

I hate how he sleeps around tho. And he crushed the fl's hand or leg (i don't remember) with his shoes? I would forgive everything he did but not hurting the female lead

I never have an issue with people sleeping around as long as they’re not cheating. And you can tell Cesar has been with other women just by looking at him. His entire body just screams it and it’s part of what makes him sexy as opposed to just handsome.

I think I’m also looking at the ankle situation differently than most because his anger came from the fact that he told her beforehand that them trying to dupe the entire high society that way (by pretending she’s a noble so she can marry into a noble family) is a capital offense and while he was putting his money and resources toward making it happen, she not only stayed quiet about the bullying she was going through, but messed up her feet, which ultimately made them take several steps back in their plan. It’s messed up to step on her feet, yes, but I can’t pretend I didn’t understand why he was angry she hid that while they’re essentially trying to get away with a crime.
